Twin Creeks Organic Farm
Established in 1998, Twin Creeks is a successful family-run `beyond organic` farm with an extremely diverse variety of livestock, poultry, vegetables, and produce including (but certainly not limited to):
- Grassfed beef and lamb
- Pastured pork, chicken, turkey and ducks
- A wide range of organic vegetables
Twin Creeks products can be purchased directly at the farm and in a variety of locations around Southern Ontario.
"We began farming in 1998 knowing that the Meaford area was a great place to live and raise our family. Farming near Georgian Bay and on the Niagara Escarpment provides a balanced climate for growing grass for our livestock and a wide range of vegetables. Now also milking sheep, we are slowly diversifying our farm operation.
At Twin Creeks, we are committed to providing the highest quality ‘naturally grown’ grass fed meats and vegetables. Many of the people who enjoy our products live in Meaford or vacation here. As a family farm, we continue to enjoy farming and growing healthy food for ourselves and others."

Barbetta Orchards Ltd. has been growing a range of fruit in Meaford since 1936.
Brad Johnston, Barbetta’s current owner explains what makes the geographical area particularly well suited to this type of horticulture:
“The reason we can grow apples here is that we are surrounded by a body of water and the Niagara escarpment. The cold water of Georgian Bay keeps the temperature moderated and holds the tree back long enough that the blossoms don’t get nipped by frost. The soil is a sandy loam which lends itself to good nutrient value.”
Today Barbetta’s products include:
- crab apples
While the fruit industry has globalized, Barbetta has found a growing market in direct sales and sells the majority of his produce in Ontario. This approach allows the farmer to be paid at point of sale, keep a greater portion of the profits and the consumer to get fresher produce.

Coffin Ridge Vineyard and Winery is a family-run business and has been growing grapes in Meaford since 1999.
“The community of Meaford has consistently offered their support to our business. Meaford’s official plan embraces the Agri-Tourism aspect of farming as a vital part of community growth. This progressive vision makes Meaford a great place to grow a business.
With fifteen thousand visitors to the winery last year and the expectation of double that this year, we are grateful for the support. Meaford is a great destination both for tourists and for businesses as well as a beautiful place to live, surrounded by orchards, lush farms and now four beautiful vineyards.
We at Coffin Ridge have never regretted our decision to plant our business in the fertile soil of the community of Meaford.” (Mike Todd, Manager and COO of Coffin Ridge Vineyard and Winery)

Meredith’s Ginger Syrup
Meredith's Ginger Syrup started on a farm outside of Meaford, Ontario. Meredith started making this very special recipe using the finest of ingredients including the honey she raised on her organic farm.
In the Fall of 2009, The Dragon's Den, based on the CBC TV show was held in Meaford. This was a special opportunity for residents to present new ideas for business in the community. Meredith proudly took her syrup to the Dragons and won first place!
“Now more than ever, it is important that you feel good about what you eat and that what you eat makes you feel good about yourself! This is a syrup made in an old-world way with fresh new ideas behind it!” (Meredith Cowan, Owner-Operator)
'Immunity for the community' sums up how Meredith feels about her syrup. It is about the relationship of our food to us and about us in relationship to our communities and the world beyond.
